Welcome to My Not-So-Glorious Writing Process

So, you're probably picturing me typing away at a desktop while I write these stories, right? Maybe you envision a cozy little nook with a steaming cup of coffee, sunlight streaming through the window, and an inspirational cat perched on my shoulder. Well, let me shatter that illusion like a glass vase in a toddler's hands. I write from my phone. Yes, you read that right—my phone! I’m not lounging in a fancy office chair; I’m sprawled out in bed like a sloth on a lazy Sunday. My writing app of choice? Scrivener, because nothing says “serious author” like typing on a device that also lets me scroll through cat memes.
The Realities of Bedridden Creativity
Now, before you start feeling sorry for me, let me clarify: I’m not just enjoying a life of leisure in my cozy cocoon. I’m often plagued with chronic migraine headaches, which means my bed is more of a fortress of solitude than a luxury suite. I have to stay in a dark, quiet room, which sounds peaceful until you realize it’s also where I try to squeeze out creative genius while battling the urge to toss my phone across the room in frustration. Imagine this: me, lying in bed, surrounded by pillows, typing furiously with one hand while the other clutches an ice pack to my head. It’s a sight to behold, really—a modern-day Shakespeare, if Shakespeare had migraines and a penchant for binge-watching Dexter. So, the next time you picture a writer, remember: not all of us are sitting at a mahogany desk with a quill and parchment. Some of us are just trying to make sense of our thoughts while swatting away imaginary mosquitoes in a dark room. And hey, if you can’t find the light at the end of the tunnel, at least you can find the glow of your phone screen!
